Thanks for joining me for Episode 3 and please forgive my slightly scattered brain throughout!
On the needles/Marinating: My vanilla socks in Paton's Kroy in blue striped ragg are coming along nicely. I cast on for the Mizutama Shawl by Olga Buraya-Kefelian in MadelineTosh 80/10/10 Sport in Holi Festival. I love this yarn base and want more of it! I have a lot of projects on my brain, but know that up next will be a pair of socks in Neighborhood Fiber Co. Studio Sock in the Cleveland Park colorway for my mom. I'll be using the Fish Lips Kiss Heel pattern, gifted to me by YarnderWoman. Thank you!!
On the town: I've spent a bit of time in nearby Cleveland Park lately. I recently went to the Uptown Theater, a historic single screen movie theater, to see Monuments Men. We also had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in the city, Dino, which closed over the weekend and will be relocating to DC's Shaw neighborhood. And I waxed poetic for my favorite cocktail ever, the negroni.
On the stovetop: While I recorded, I was trying out the broccoli, lemon and parmesan soup recipe from Food52, and for the record, it was pretty darn tasty. My guy's birthday is coming up and we're menu planning. I'll be making the Smitten Kitchen stout chocolate cake with a whiskey buttercream frosting and might give use recipes that include beer as an ingredient. So far, I'm interested in trying beer candied bacon and beer hummus. What can I say? We love a good drink around these parts!
Do you have any recipes that use beer as an ingredient? Please tell me all about it either here in the comments or on the episode thread in the Ravelry group.
